KILGORE —
On Sunday, December 25, 2011, at approximately 8:18 a.m., the Kilgore Fire Department and Kilgore Police Department responded to 3608 Sycamore Street, Kilgore, Texas due to a reported house fire.
Upon arriving, half the residence was found engulfed in flames.
After the fire was extinguished, fire fighters discovered resident, Allen McGee, 39 years of age, in a room of the residence. Mr. McGee was deceased. Gregg County Justice of the Peace, Judge Talyna Carlson, responded and formally pronounced the death of Mr. McGee.
An autopsy was ordered. Initial investigation and on scene evidence suggest Mr. McGee succumbed to smoke and heat from the fire.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Kilgore Fire Marshall’s Office with assistance from the Gregg County Fire Marshall’s Office.
Preliminary investigation indicates the cause of the fire to be unintentional.
