Jacksonville, Longview, and Tyler offer free tree recycling
EAST TEXAS — Tyler:
Residents can drop off their undecorated, non-flocked real Christmas trees starting the day after Christmas through Sunday, Jan. 8 in designated areas at Golden Road Park and Fun Forest Park in Tyler.
Golden Road Park is located at the intersection of McDonald Road and Golden Road. Fun Forest Park is located in the 900 block of North Glenwood Boulevard.
All lights, ornaments, garland and tinsel should be removed from the Christmas tree before dropping it off near the sign that says "Christmas Tree Recycling."
The trees at the parks are available for area fisherman to pick up and sink in nearby lakes to create fish habitats.
Longview is accepting trees for recycling at Stamper Park at 400 Fair St.
Also, at the compose site on 280 Hearn Rd.
They will not accept anything with decorations or flocking (fake snow).
Jacksonville will accept trees at Devereaux and South Bolton (an empty lot with a red sign).
No trees with decorations or flocking will be accepted.
The city will chip the trees into mulch and give it back to the community.
All cities are offering free curbside tree removal. Trees removed at the curb will be taken to city landfills.
