Jackson County, MS — KETK just found out Steven Ray Milam, or the "handsome guy" bandit, the man accused of almost a dozen North Texas bank robberies over the last year, and who police say has Tyler ties is currently being taken from a Jackson County, Mississippi hospital to the county jail.
KETK spoke with Sheriff Mike Byrd, who says he will be going shortly to pick Milam up.
Sheriff Byrd tells KETK he shot out Milam's right rear tire on his red VW Jetta, while traveling northbound on I-10 near Pascagoula, MS, Tuesday morning around 10 a.m., after a 17 mile pursuit, and after three different attempts to stop Milam's vehicle.
Milam faces up to 12 counts of armed bank robbery in the Dallas County area and attempted Capital Murder Charges on a Richardson police officer.
Sheriff Byrd tells KETK, Milam will also be charged in Mississippi later today (Wednesday) on evading arrest, those charges stemming from Tuesday's pursuit.
Richardson Police Department tells KETK the U.S. Marshall's Office will be traveling to Mississippi in order to extradite Milam in Dallas County, TX, sometime later this week.
KETK will bring you more on this story, along with a current mugshot of Milam and how officers finally caught the man behind the mask, tonight on KETK Live @ 5 and KETK News @ 6.
