DALLAS, Texas — A Tyler, Texas man has pleaded guilty to robbing 11 banks across North Texas in federal court.
Steven Ray Milam, 44, also known as the Handsome Guy Bandit, pleaded guilty Tuesday to 11 counts of bank robbery in a Dallas courtroom.
Milam can receive from 32 years to life in prison when he is sentenced by a district judge on September 17, according to the U.S. Attorney's office.
Milam was arrested on January 3, 2012, in Mississippi, after a chase along Interstate 10 in which a tire was shot out of the vehicle he was driving by Jackson County Sheriff Mike Byrd.
KETK's news affliate in Dallas KXAS is reporting Steven Ray Milam has been picked up by the U.S. Marshal's and is headed back to North Texas.
Milam is accused of robbing several banks in the Dallas area.
The Jackson County, Mississippi Sheriff's Department released these mug shots to KETK of Steven Ray Milam, 44, of Tyler, on Wednesday afternoon. He's the man police say is responsible for almost a dozen bank robberies in the Dallas area for the last year or so. He's been called the "handsome bandit" by authorities.
