tyler — I'm afraid the president is starting to look more like a dictator than president.
Remember the Constitution?
That old piece of paper that has been getting in the way of fundamentally changing America.
First, on New Years Eve, the president signs a bill into law that allows the government or U.S. military to arrest and do what they want to with anyone it deems to be a terrorist. That includes U.S. citizens.
Never mind you are entitled to a jury of your peers, you'll be stashed away or worse?
Where is the outcry?
Where are the same hand-wringers who were so upset about the Bush Patriot Act? That is small potatoes compared to this.
And now the president is using recess appointments to name someone to be the consumer czar as well as appoint three more folks to the National Labor Board.
Never mind they need to be approved by the Senate.
The president says Congress is getting in the way and he's just going do what he has to do. Can you imagine if president Bush did this?
On most every talking head cable political show they'd have every Harvard, egg-headed law professor screaming from the rooftop.
Oh, did I mention the president pulling all this is a former law professor.
Those in his camp claim recess appointments are a presidents privilege, but they are still hammering it out if the Senate really is at recess.
This is pure political chicanery and electioneering. The president is in for a fight and is already hitting the campaign trail with hijinks like this.
That's my point of view, what's yours?
