Tyler, Texas — As we swing into the election season- and face it-we are- the administration is working like a house on fire to cut the defense department.
No, not the bloated suit-wearing bureaucrats, but troops and bullets.
Just this week, the president has said he wants to cut a huge amount of ground troops.
This happens every few years.
Reagan had to rebuild the military after they didn't even have enough bullets after Jimmy Carter.
Don't laugh. They really didn't have enough.
Clinton made big cuts too.
Now, it looks like the same game plan- cut the military.
It's an easy target if you pardon the pun.
But, my colleague at KTBB and commentator on Fox 51 Paul Gleiser mentioned this week, how come other departments are not being looked at?
We live in a dangerous time.
You notice not many administrations ever want to make huge cuts at the EPA, Department of Labor or energy or education.
Can anyone out there really tell me what these cabinet level agencies do. I know, Deptarment of Energy over energy, but what do they really do?
But, never a kid glove is laid on those bloated bureaucratic agencies.
I'm not sure we even need a Dept of Energy.
But what many politicians just cant get through their heads, you cannot always negotiate with
mad men.
In some parts of the world they only respect who has the biggest hammer. It's as simple as that. And we just cant wait to make the hammer smaller.
I'd rather the world be more respectful, dare I say afraid of us, as possible.
Good fences and strong military's make great neighbors.
That's my point of view, what's yours?
