HENDERSON - It was unanimous Tuesday night. The Henderson City Council spent close to twenty minutes discussing the move to allow Brookshire Brothers Grocery Store to sell alcohol.
Originally the store wasn't allowed to do so because they are fewer than three-hundred feet from Henderson Middle School.
One Brookshire Brothers Grocery Store manager took questions from the council, and while the vote ultimately went in the store's favor, there were those there representing both sides of the argument.
One East Texan for the vote says the store needed the sales to stay in business, "They're in competition with other stores and they're smaller store by the way and if they can't compete, they can't compete."
Another East Texan was against the measure, "The store or property is less than 300 feet from Henderson Middle School, should not be allowed to sell beer and wine or any other alcoholic beverages."
