Longview, TX — More than 100 church and community members gathered Sunday afternoon at Mobberly Baptist Church for the grand opening of the church’s newest expansion, The Bridge.
The 55,000-square-foot education and ministry building is capable of holding about 1,000 adults in rooms on the first floor, and the second floor can hold up to 800 children at a time for small group classes, Children’s Minister Analisa Hood said.
In addition, there are two worship centers in the facility. One worship center, which has been dubbed “the depot,” will hold about 230 children at a time and offers audio-visual technology.
“We are thrilled to have an area designed especially for children with exciting colors and cool set designs. The children’s floor of The Bridge gives children an awesome space to hear and experience God’s love for each of them,” Hood said.
The depot is designed around a train station and has ladders for the children to climb on around the stage and a train that shoots out smoke.
“It was designed for theatrical purposes,” Hood said. “It’s designed around our lives as a journey, learning new things and going new places as we follow God’s will.”
