For sale sign nears for private Galveston beach
Galveston — The Houston Chronicle is reporting; A "Beach for sale" sign will soon be up for the only privately owned beach on the Texas Gulf Coast unless owner Sonya Porretto succeeds in what may be her final effort to persuade a federal bankruptcy judge to change his mind.
The odds aren't good for Porretto, who ran out of money to pay her lawyer and is representing herself as she struggles to save a property that has been held by her family for 50 years.
A federal bankruptcy judge last month changed Porretto's bankruptcy from Chapter 11 to Chapter 7, allowing Porretto Beach to be sold to pay her creditors.
