SMITH COUNTY — The driver of a tractor trailer was transported to an area hospital this morning after his rig went off the roadway and hit a tree near Overton.
Department of Public Safety Trooper Jonathan Peters says driver Robert Valdetero, 40, was traveling westbound on FM 850 at about 5 a.m. when the wreck occured about a mile west of Overton.
When the rig hit the tree, the cab separated from the rest of the rig, Peters said.
Smith County DPS officials tell KETK, they are working a wreck on FM 850 in Smith County.
Officials say the accident occurred near the crossroad of County Road 227.
Authorities do not have an update on injuries at this time, but drivers should expect delays in this area.
