tyler — The president gave his 3rd State of the Union speech last night.
I was hoping for more than what I heard. I wanted to hear answers to how we are going to pay down trillions of dollars of debt.
I wanted to hear his reason for killing the Keystone pipeline that would have created 22,000 new jobs. I wanted to hear why dumping that project and letting Canada ship oil to China was good for the United States.
I wanted to hear more about tax breaks for business, especially small business.
I wanted to hear that many wealthy people are paying 15% on their taxes because they pay capital gains.
This is how he keeps people investing in this country and we don't punish them.
I wanted to hear about a simpler tax code. A tax code so simple even the secretary of treasury and a guy like me can really understand.
Out of all the things I think are holding the nation back, two things really are important.
Digging out of all this debt. Finding programs and waste we can cut, and find a flat tax or a tax system which really makes sense.
I would love to have a national mandatory lesson on the tax system.
For our textbook, we can use the itemization which comes on your check.
We can study how much is taken out after Uncle Sugar is done with it.
If most people really paid even that much attention, I think there would be a revolution.
No, not violent, but at the ballot box.
It would be my prayer before I leave this Earth that people would really lose more interest in what rehab facility actors are in and dedicate themselves to knowing how their country really works.
That's my point of view, what's yours?
