tyler — Whenever you hear of NFL players retiring, I usually wonder what they are going to do next.
The superstars have the luxury of just being themselves for the rest of their lives-- if they handled their money correctly.
When I say being themselves, they don't have to do a lot of anything. They can go to autograph shows, be a greeter at casinos or maybe do some TV.
But what this guy is doing makes me very proud.
Jon Kitna played 15 years in the NFL. He just retired from the Dallas Cowboys. Before that he's been around in places like Seattle and played for other teams.
Jon Kitna is from the Seattle area, Tacoma to be exact.
When I lived up there I went to his church. I can tell you they were very proud of him. And they should be.
From what I can gather, Kitna walks the walk.
Now that the limelight has faded, he's going back to Tacoma to live full-time. He's also going back to his old high school to work. John Kitna will be the a math teacher and head football coach of Lincoln High School. He'll be the man over the "Lincoln Abes."
He told the local paper there he has been open that he wanted to be a high school football coach.
Kitna told the paper, "My wife and I always felt like these years in the NFL have prepared us for what our real calling in life is going to be as teachers and running a high school football program,".
I'm sure it's great to be a big football star and famous sportscaster like many of his friend are and have become.
But, it's people like Jon Kitna that really make me smile and make me realize, maybe this old world is in better shape than I thought.
That's my point of view, what's yours?
