tyler — With apologies to the rock group Queen, another one bites the dust.
Just last year, the vice-president and the president were out touting green energy.
We were told by gasping TV reporters that this was the wave of the future.
Big oil, hated oil, greedy oil--- move over.
We'll all be volting around smiling, waving at each other in our new energy-efficient green cars.
And when we got home, our houses would be warmed and heated with solar panels-- most of which are very expensive.
Well, a funny thing happened on the way to the forum to steal another show biz line.
All these green energy companies started to fall apart.
Thursday, ener1--- the Ener1 --- a company that manufactures batteries for electric cars, and that received $118.5 million in federal stimulus money, and that Vice President Joe Biden visited last year the day after President Obama's State of the Union Address, announced it has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.
In last year's State of the Union Address, President Obama set a national goal of having a million electric vehicles on the road in the United States by 2015. A goal that would be achieved, Obama said, by taking money out of the oil industry and "investing" it in new technology.
Well, look at the green mess so far.
Seriously.
One day we will be greener than we are right.
It will come from products dictated by the market.
In other words, stuff people really want.
Not golf carts to drive on the freeway.
Right now, we're stuck with billions of gallons of oil in the Gulf, Dakotas and Canada that
we can't use, so we'll all get to pay $5 at the pump this summer while crony capitalism rolls on.
That's my point of view, whats yours?
