TEXAS CITY – When Texas City resident Sheree Delisle opened her utility bills for this month, did she get a surprise: a water bill for $637,956.54.
"I was in shock," said Delisle. "I thought maybe a decimal was in the wrong place." A city employee assured her the incident was not isolated and that the big bill was caused when water meters were replaced.
Irene Fattig, City of Texas City water billing supervisor, on Tuesday said a technical glitch was to blame.
