A candidate’s filing for Kilgore City Council on Monday created that body’s first contested race on the May 12 ballot.
Tristan Roberts, 25, will face incumbent Neil Barr who previously filed for re-election to the Place 3 seat, City Secretary Karen Custer reported. Roberts is the orchestra director at Kilgore High School.
Councilman Bobby Hale also is running for re-election in Place 4. Incumbent Randy Renshaw has announced he will not seek re-election, and Allegiance Specialty Hospital Executive Director Sherry Bustin has filed for that Place 1 seat.
Candidates have until March 5 to file for office in municipal and some school board races.
