tyler — Every now and then, it seems like the world is spinning out of control and that common sense is not too common.
But, there was a story reported this week about a fight between a gun range and rich guy in Oregon.
In the tiny city of Ashford, there is a gun range that has been around for years.
Of course, when there is a gun range, there is the perpetual sound of guns firing.
That's why they build out in the country, unless the shooting is done at an indoor range like Lock and Load in Tyler.
He's the rub.
Some rich guy buys land right next to the gun range. Builds a mansion that would make Jed Clampett envious. Then, sues the gun range and the city to have the gun range shut down.
He says the noise is irritating. Hello!!! You built next to the gun range.
When that wasn't working, he then went for the environmentalist, animal hugging card.
He claimed that yes, the noise was a nuisance, but what he was really concerned about was the bullets may hit animals, and that with all that gun smoke and lead flying around, it would somehow settle and then pollute the water table.
No, I'm not making this up.
Well, before the city did a knee-jerk reaction, they sent a crew out to test if there was any lead getting into the ground and water system.
There was not.
When interviewed about this, Johnny Rich-guy still says he's concerned about the pollution from the gun range.
But, if you pardon the pun, the city is still sticking to its guns and saying the gun range is not doing anything wrong.
Lets hope they don't back down, and maybe Johnny Rich-guy can leave his house for the gun range, and the shooters will have a place to have parties and take concealed handgun classes.
I know. I'm asking too much.
That's my point of view, what's yours?
