Kilgore, TX — The Kilgore Police Department has recently noted a spike in vehicle burglaries in both business and residential areas of town. The Department is diligently working on various strategies to address this issue including refocusing patrol efforts as needed. The Department would like to take this opportunity to offer the following tips for safeguarding your vehicle from being burglarized:
Keep your car locked at all times.
Park in well lit area at night.
Do not leave any valuables in your car. If you have valuables discretely lock them in your trunk or at least conceal them.
A purse, shopping bags, GPS device, satellite radio, cellular telephone and even coins in the center console simply tempts the thief to smash your car window and steal them.
Record serial numbers to all electronics and keep them stored in a safe place.
