Longview, TX — Good Shepherd Medical Center would like to cordially extend an invitation to all area residents to join us for our 24th annual “A Fair of the Heart” community health fair. East Texas’ largest community health fair is coming to Maude Cobb Convention and Activity Center, located at 100 Grand Boulevard in Longview, on Saturday, February 25, 2012, from 8 to 11 a.m.
At “A Fair of the Heart,” community residents are welcomed to participate in many free health screenings valued at $100, get valuable health information, learn more about all of Good Shepherd Medical Center’s services, and of course, join in on activities and fun for the whole family. The free health screenings will include height/weight, complete lipid profile, glucose testing, blood pressure and body fat.
In addition to many valuable health screenings and information, guests will enjoy live entertainment, healthy snacks, fun giveaways and more. Our Discovery Clinic for Kids offers a hands-on demonstration of medical images and laboratory slides. Champion EMS will also be on the scene offering ambulance tours in our mobile intensive care units.
Our “Are you Fitter Than Your Fifth Grader” area will put you to the test; our Institute for Healthy Living staff will test your agility and “body age.” Don’t be scared! If you’re not already fitter than your fifth grader, we’ll show you how to get there. Our Institute for Healthy Living staff will also be demonstrating various exercises throughout the morning that are appropriate for all ages and signify how a healthy lifestyle may be the best medicine.
Several health information stations will educate attendees on a range of topic and programs offered at Good Shepherd including Orthopedics, our Neurological Institute, our Great Expectations Maternity Program, Classicare, the Institute for Healthy Living and more! There will also be a Career Opportunities station for those interested in joining the Good Shepherd team.
