We throw the phrase “end of an era” around a lot, but in the case of the smith county sheriff’s race, it’s accurate.
For roughly 36 years Smith County has had one Sheriff, J.B.Smith has presided over a department that has seen a lot of changes.
And now, someone else will take the reigns.
There will be a new sheriff, and the voters will have four men to choose from.
Bobby Garman is the chief Deputy in the department.
Larry Smith is a former Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms agent.
Chris Green is the former Smith County Game Warden.
And Donn Rust is a businessman and reserve Captain in Constable Precinct 3.
They share their visions for the department in this story.
