tyler — The president's latest health care idea has a lot of the folks in the military hopping mad and many of us out here in flyover country angry as well.
This is wordpress.com: Obama to cut health benefits of active and retired military
If the president has his way, military benefits will be drastically reduced for all active and retired military.
As an example, a retired Army colonel with a family currently paying $460 a year for health care will pay more than $2,000 a year.
President Obama claims this is in the interest of reducing our $5 trillion national debt by trimming the federal government's bloated budget.
But, the fly in the ointment is his proposed health benefits cuts do not apply to civilian defense workers.
Why? Because they belong to government unions! And unions are the political base of the Democratic Party.
This is a slap in the face.
It's bad enough with the cuts that the administration is making the military take a haircut like you won't believe.
But as far as I know, not one social program will be losing a penny.
The president knows where his votes lie. We've become a nation of takers, not makers.
And the president is depending on the takers. This is not the way to go Mr. President. It irks me that there is not more outcry about this.
Now, this is not a done deal yet. Congress will have to vote on it.
Let's hope they see this is not the way to go.
That's my point of view, what's yours?
