Jack Stallard is the Sports Editor of the Longview News-Journal.
He talked with KETK's Danny Elzner about Lovie Smith entering the Texas Sports Hall of Fame in Waco Wednesday night.
Smith is the head coach of the Chicago Bears. He's from Big Sandy.
Here's what Stallard said.
"This is a great honor for Lovie. He's the head coach of the Chicago Bears. He's done a great job there. Around here, we know him as a Big Sandy guy. What a great career he had there in high school. He led Big Sandy to three state championships. He continues to do great work in that community, donating scoreboards and buy shoes for the school football team. He's never forgotten his roots. Folks in Big Sandy love this guy."
