At 11:01pm Tuesday March 06, Lufkin Police responded to a disturbance call with a man stabbed at 908 Rowe St. in Lufkin.
Officers arrived at the scene and found one man laying in the front yard of the residence with a wound to his neck. That man was later identified as Frederic Gilmore, 58, a resident of 908 Rowe St. Gilmore was taken to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
Also on scene was Rodney Evan Sheperd, 44, also a resident of 908 Rowe St. Sheperd told officers that he had stabbed Gilmore. The knife believed to have been used was recovered from Sheperd’s pocket.
Sheperd was taken into custody without incident and taken to Lufkin PD where he was interviewed by detectives and later booked into Angelina County Jail on a charge of Murder.
The initial investigation revealed that Sheperd and Gilmore began arguing over an unknown matter inside the house. The argument turned physical, the parties went outside and Sheperd stabbed Gilmore in the neck.
