LONGVIEW - The Lobo football team loaded up on charter busses today to hit the road to Waco, where they will compete in the State Championship game for the first time in 11 years.
And cheering them on as they traveled out of town, was hundreds of dedicated fans of all ages.
Elise McClure is a Lobo fan and she said, "I've always been a Lobo fan, I'm a lobo graduate and we've got a lot of kids on this team I've seen play football since they were in pee-wee."
Because this football team hasn't won State since 1937, fans say they are ready for a state title.
Abbe Hugman said, "Its awesome to see the city turnout for this and all the citizens so excited, when they come back with a State title, we're gonna have a city parade."
Coach King said, "Lobo Nation is gonna travel strong to Waco and they are the best fans in the world and they support the best team in the world too."
As for the team, King said, "These kids have handled the situation really well, I think theres that hunger for a state championship, and its something these kids have dreamed of all their life."
