Nacogdoches Sheriff officials tell KETK, what was thought to be gas wells are actually fuel storage tanks.
Officials say just after 3:45 pm on Thursday, two storage tanks ruptured and expoded. The cause of the explosion has not yet been determined.
There were at least four other tanks in the vicinity, but we are told firefighters managed to keep the fire from spreading.
Several volunteer fire departments on scene working to contain the fire.
No injuries were reported in this incident.

Here is a statement from Nacogdoches Sheriff Thomas Kerss via Facebook:
"Earlier this afternoon we received a report of two oil/gas tanks that exploded and caught fire on County Road 342. Melrose, Chireno and Swift/Shady Grove VFDs and the City of Nacogdoches Fire Department responded and have contained the fire before it spread to four other tanks located in that vicintity. At this time it is unknown what caused the fire. There were no injuries reported."
Nacogdoches County crews are en route to a major gas explosion off County Road 342 near Highway 7 East.
Two gas well have exploded and 3 were threatened by flames, according to the Nacogdoches Daily Sentinel.
