Nacogdoches, TX — It’ll be several weeks before all efforts to clean the gasoline spill from Banita Creek will be completed, said Nacogdoches Fire Chief Keith Kiplinger.
“The environmental contractor that is qualified to clean this stuff up is working diligently to get this stuff cleaned up before the rains hit, if they can,” he said Thursday afternoon. “There are oil absorbent booms in the water and those are being monitored and changed as appropriate. Texas Parks and Wildlife is here assessing the damage to wildlife, as well.”
A fish-kill is almost a certainty at this point.
