Nacogdoches, TX — The NISD school board voted Thursday to spend $50,472.50 to build water wells on the campuses of Nacogdoches High School and McMichael Middle School.
The drought-fighting measure passed by a 4-2 vote at the special meeting. Board President Mike Claude and board member T.D Howarth were in opposition. Councilwoman Lisa Mize was not present during the meeting.
Under Stage 2 of the drought plan set by the city for March 2012, landscape irrigation must be decreased by 30 percent, and the watering schedule that has been voluntary must be mandatory as well.
