Two Diboll women and a toddler lost their lives Thursday afternoon after their Jeep was struck by a moving train in Diboll.
Sofia Carrillo, 54, Tavita Carrillo, 19, who was driving the vehicle, and an 18-month-old boy, whose name was not being released late Thursday, all died in the collision, according to Diboll Police Sgt. Brandan Lovell.
The accident happened around 2 p.m. at a railroad crossing on Maynard Street. Diboll Police said the car was stopped on the tracks when it was hit by the train, although it was not clear late Thursday as to why.
When emergency workers from the Diboll Volunteer and Lufkin Fire departments arrived on the scene, the two women and boy were dead, according to Lovell.
