Hours before he made the decision Thursday night on where he would attend college, Durham Smythe still wasn't certain which way he would go.
"Even as of (Thursday) morning," Smythe said, "I was still kind of on the fence."
But by that afternoon, the highly sought tight end from Belton had made up his mind. Thus, the Longhorns added a critical piece to a 2013 football recruiting class that could end up being one of the best in coach Mack Brown's tenure — which is saying a lot.
Smythe, ranked by 247Sports as the top tight end prospect in Texas and the seventh-best nationally, opted to stay close to home. But he emphasized that it wasn't an easy choice.
