AUSTIN, Texas —
When Paul Benefiel, a sophomore at the University of Texas, emailed Stephen Colbert last December, he had no idea he would be kicking off a national movement.
Thursday, on national television, Colbert granted permission for Benefiel to begin “Texans for a Better Tomorrow, Tomorrow,” – a branch for his own Super PAC – and then encouraged other college student to do the same.
“Should college students be political players?” Colbert asked. “Why not? They’re already having sex with interns.”
