WOOD COUNTY — "Lucky Stars," "The Gate," "Debbie's Dream,"...
You might not guess just by looking or hearing the name...but on the inside of these places are wall to wall 8 Liner machines.
And Wood County Sheriff Bill Wansley says they're the paying kind. Therefore, they're against the law.
After going undercover, on Thursday night, authorities busted the 3 places at the same time...which the Sheriff says are surprisingly not connected.
"Okay, this group of stuff came from a Pleasant Grove store...it's called Lucky Stars...it had...31 machines in it, the other had 29 and the other had 51," Wansley said.
Wansley says one woman at "The Gate" was arrested - she had a handgun on her.
But the Sheriff says before it's all over, there may be more arrests.
"Apparently it's pretty common, they get run out of one county and they find a place or an empty building over in another county and they move over and set up and they start all over again," Wansley said.
Wansley tells KETK a substantial amount of money was seized in addition to the more than 100 8 Liners.
He says this investigation is just the tip of the iceberg.
"Oh yes, yes...there's others around," Wansley said.
As far as this round of raids goes, the Sheriff says they'll be turning all of the information over to the Wood County D.A.
