At least five apartment buildings were gutted by the crash or the fire that followed the crash of a navy fighter jet in Virginia Beach, Virginia today.
It went down just blocks from the Atlantic Ocean moments after takeoff from nearby naval air station Oceana.
Wreckage of the jet was scattered in the courtyard area of the complex.
Both pilots ejected safely and were taken to the hospital with only minor injuries.
Reports from the ground were that no one was killed and that there has been no word from families reporting missing people as of yet.
The few injuries on the ground are believed to be minor and that is what most authorities find remarkable.
The crash site area is so densely populated and that most of the apartment units are usually occupied.
