RUSK COUNTY — 5:45 PM UPDATE: The National Weather Service has just completed storm surveys on Wednesday's storms and confirms that two tornadoes touched down in Rusk County.
Both were EF0 tornadoes with top winds of 60-70 mph and widths of 25 to 35 yards.
The first tornado occurred at 2:51 PM 7 miles southwest of Henderson at the intersection of County Roads 468 and 471. The tornado traveled 2 miles to the SE and then lifted as it crossed Highway 79. Damage was limited to downed trees and power lines.
Tornado number 2 touched down at 3:22 PM, 6 miles to the NW of Mount Enterprise on FM 1798 in southern Rusk county. It traveled about a mile to the southeast before lifting just east of CR 3146. Damage was limited to downed trees.
The National Weather Service tells KETK, they currently have surveyors on location in Rusk County assessing the damage in the area.
Their experts have determined that an EF-0 tornado hit about 7 miles Southwest of Henderson on Wednesday.
Trees and power lines were down in the area of Rusk County Road 468.
