tyler — The news has been so Fast and Furious this past week-- pun intended -- that here is a news item we didn't get to discuss right after it happened.
Last week we had the tornado outbreak that struck between Dallas-Fort Worth and East Texas.
Luckily, no one was killed, but there was a lot of destruction mainly in the DFW area.
Being a former TV meteorologist, I was aware of the atmospheric conditions which was causing the storms.
Then, later find out from a United States senator, not only did I know what caused the storm. but I was one of the reasons for the storms to form.
The reason--- I drive an SUV. I also drive a pickup truck.
Gasp!
I'm sorry and I am taking off time from work to go the the city of Forney, east of Dallas, and apologize for my selfishness.
You see, hours after the weather event that caused so much trouble, Senator Dick Durbin of Illinois told the press corps in D.C. the reason why they had the bad weather was not enough people are driving small cars.
I'm not kidding.
This from "Real Clear Politics.":
Sen. Dick Durbin has called for more laws regulating carbon output while he sends a dire warning that we must convert to hybrid cars or lose our life. Durbin says we must spend money now to fix the problem.
"It's your money or your life," he said a press conference. "We are either going to dedicate ourselves to a cleaner, more livable planet and accept the initial investment necessary or we're going to pay a heavier price in terms of loss of human life, damage and costs associated with it."
Last I looked, we had tornadoes and severe weather long before we ever had cars.
So sad to see a U.S. senator make political hay out of people hurt.
That's my point of view, what's yours?
