The City of Tyler and Liberty Hall proudly announce the first annual East Texas Comedy Festival June 15 and 16, 2012 at Liberty Hall in Downtown Tyler. The two night event, starting at 8 p.m. each night, will feature stand-up comedy on Friday night and improvisational comedy on Saturday night.
Comedians wanting to perform at this event must first submit a three- to five-minute demo of a stand-up set to firstname.lastname@example.org . A panel of judges will review these submissions and select 10-12 participants who will compete, with a live stand-up performance on Friday night, for the title of East Texas’s Funniest Comic.
Each contestant will have five minutes to win the crowd over. At the end of the night, the audience will vote to determine who will receive the title of East Texas’s funniest comic. The winner will return, as champion, on Saturday night to perform a 10-minute set.
Additionally, the event will feature performances by improv group Card 53, of Tyler, and Willis and Fitzroy from Dallas. Willis and Fitzroy is considered by many the funniest improvisers in Texas.
Submissions are currently being accepted from those interested in participating in the stand-up showcase. This opportunity is open to anyone in the East Texas area who thinks they are hilarious and are ready to be discovered.
Tickets to this side-splitting, face-aching event will be on sale starting Monday, April 16 online at www.libertytyler.com . Tickets are: general admission for one night is $20; tickets for both nights are $30; and a box seat for both nights (seats up to four people) is $160.
