Longview, TX — Bubbles rather than balloons filled the sky above the Gregg County Courthouse early Thursday afternoon, but the intent was the same: to raise community awareness of child abuse.
“We decided to go with bubbles, rather than balloons, because they’re more environmentally friendly and blowing bubbles allows kids to be a bit more involved than just releasing a balloon,” said Roxanne Stevenson with the Martin House, the Children’s Advocacy Center for Gregg and Harrison counties.
About 150 people attended the event, which was called Raising Hope and was in recognition of April being Child Abuse Prevention Month.
