Kilgore College will host a science investigation summer day camp (KCSI) from June 11-14, offered to students entering the eighth and ninth grades who are good at science.
To be considered for the camp, students must get a written referral from his/her science teacher.
Registration fee is $60 which includes snacks, a camp T-shirt and a pizza lunch on the last day of camp.
As part of the camp, students will view staged crime scenes and try to solve them using chemistry and biology lab techniques.
The students will learn all about DNA samples, analysis, fingerprinting and hair and fiber testing.
The event will feature a speaker from a local law enforcement agency and daily games and prizes will be awarded along with an end-of-camp award.
Interested students will need a referral from their science teacher. Only 40 applicants will be accepted and the cost of the camp is $50.
The camp is set from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. daily in the newly renovated S.L. Canterbury Jr. Engineering and Science Building. Deadline to apply is May 25.
