CUNEY - Budget cuts could be closing the Cuney post office, but the mayor is fighting back. An emergency city meeting will be held Monday night we're told.
That's where the mayor says he hopes to have a high turnout of folks willing to send letters to local politicians expressing their concern about the post office closing.
His biggest fear, many of the citizens on fixed incomes may not afford a regular commute to another city to get their mail.
Oscar Birdow, the cities mayor, tells KETK, "The purpose of that meeting is going to be for people in Cuney and the surrounding ares to come to sign a statement, sign a letter, give them the address and have them mail letters and kind of indianite the congressman's offices with these letters and show them the concern the people have."
