Tyler, TX (KETK) — The TJC Apaches left nothing to chance on Sunday afternoon as they clobbered the Richland College Thunder Ducks 11-1 and clenched tier first trip to the Division III World Series in three years.
The game was scoreless through three, until Taylor Drolette cranked over the left field fence for two-run homer, and Apache never stopped.
TJC finished the game with 15 hits, and Whitehouse's own Payton Smith pitched 5 2/3 inning of one-run baseball.
The Apaches finished the game by striking out the side, and storming the pitchers mound as District C Champions.
And although the boys were pumped after the game about the win, they were all well aware of the larger task that awaits them next weekend.
TJC will play its first game of the World Series at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday May 19th, back at Mike Carter Field in Tyler.
