Nacogdoches, Texas — A man who was paroled from a Florida federal prison on supervised release in March was arrested Tuesday afternoon on a federal warrant by the Nacogdoches County Sheriff’s Department.
James Alan Garrett, 52, who was released under terms of supervision in Florida and allegedly moved — last thought to be living in Chireno — was arrested Tuesday afternoon outside the Lexington Place Nursing Home in Nacogdoches after authorities learned he was there.
But there’s a twist in this arrest, Sheriff Thomas Kerss said: Garrett was dressed like he was about to commit a robbery, which is what his federal charge stemmed from in 1991.
“At the time he was arrested, he was wearing two sets of clothing,” Kerss said. “He had red pants and a red shirt on the outside with dark pants and shirt underneath. He had a bandana in his pocket, he had gloves in his pocket and he had what turned out to be an air pistol, but very closely resembled a Glock pistol stuck in the waistband of his pants.”
