Local powerlifting state champs see room for improvement

Texas — Derell Bowie and Mike Butler have made comebacks in competitive powerlifting. Their respective returns produced state titles, but not necessarily satisfaction.

Both men did produce strength which defies their ages at the USA Powerlifting Texas State Championships, which were held April 27 and 28 at Fort Hood, near Killeen. Bowie won the 50-54-year-old Masters 2A Division for the 275-plus weight class while Butler won the 198-pound weight class for the 45-49 age group.
