Longview, TX — After 2011’s record drought, East Texans should find lake levels and water conditions to their liking as the Memorial Day weekend kicks off the traditional boating and lake recreation season.
Many Texas lakes are holding more water than they did at this time this past year, and water quality also is in much better shape, said Texas Parks & Wildlife Game Warden Todd Long, who is based in Harrison County.
He said Texas Parks & Wildlife Department officials are anticipating a busy boating weekend and season.
“We are blessed to have so many lakes right here in East Texas,” Long said. He said many East Texans are within a short drive of several public lakes, such as Caddo, Murvaul, Lake Palestine, Lake Fork, Lake O’ the Pines, Martin Creek, Gladewater Lake and others.
