Tyler, TX (KETK) — With Lon Morris College furloughing many of its employees, the other college in Jacksonville, Jacksonville College, has been receiving calls from concerned East Texans, worrying that they might be having similar struggles, too.
These two schools have been in Jacksonville for more than 100 years, and even people who live in town get them confused with one another.
That's why, after numerous calls from concerned citizens and parents, J.C. wants to set the record straight about their financial situation.
Jacksonville College officials tell KETK that they are in good financial standing, all the bills have been paid, all employees have been paid, and they are ready to get summer session started. But there has always been confusion between the two schools.
And in some ways, it's understandable.
Both are two-year colleges, both are Christian institutions, and they are the only private junior colleges in Texas, and they are in the same town.
However, Lon Morris' recent problems have absolutely nothing to do with Jacksonville College's operations and finances.
But that doesn't mean the news leaves Jacksonville College unaffected.
And the folks at Jacksonville College tell KETK they plan to help Lon Morris in any way they can.
