Lufkin, TX — Six years after an outcry of sexual abuse, an Angelina County man was sentenced to six years in prison Tuesday on a charge of injury to a child.
Wesley Poling, 57, faced up to 20 years in prison on a second degree felony charge of indecency with a child, but accepted a six-year prison sentence on a charge of injury to a child in exchange for a guilty plea, according to prosecutor Dale Summa.
The charges stem from outcry made in January 2006 by a 12-year-old girl in Poling’s family. At that time the girl told friends of the abuse and they urged her to tell a school counselor, according to an arrest affidavit.
