Lufkin, TX — Diboll City Council members on Monday voted to establish a “Design 4 Diboll” committee to advise and assist in promoting and marketing the city.
City Manager Dennis McDuffie said the committee would function like a chamber of commerce to make recommendations and advise the council on ways to promote the city, attract retirees and encourage new businesses.
“Knowing that we do belong to the Lufkin/Angelina County Chamber of Commerce, which we’ll continue to do, the Design 4 Diboll will more narrowly focus on how we want to market Diboll for the future,” McDuffie said. “With the acquisition of Temple-Inland by (International Paper), those types of issues and some of the challenges that face us, we’ve got to put the best foot forward for the community so we can take it into the future. We’ve got a lot of assets — the golf course, the History Center — a lot of things going on here that could attract not only retirees, but young families. We’ve got a brand new elementary school just recently built here, so we’ve got a lot of things going for Diboll.”
