Nacogdoches, TX — Pending Nacogdoches City Council approval, Dog Park Nacogdoches will be a reality, according to Healthy Nacogdoches Coalition chairwoman Kinnie Douglas.
About $5,000 short of the money needed for the basic version of the off-leash park last week, supporters were counting on the Running of the Blueberries 5K run/walk on Saturday to complete the $11,000 goal for the basic version of the park.
When the 5K brought in 260 racers and more than $6,000, it was definitely a moment for celebration, Douglas said.
“It feels really good, it’s relieving to know we’re about to start building something,” she said.
The park will be near Banita Creek North Park and the Nacogdoches Farmers Market, and the basic version will fulfill all the park’s needs, if not aesthetics.
