Nacogdoches, TX — Expo Center Manager Bill Plunkett will assume new duties as the manager of soon-to-open Lake Naconiche and Lake Naconiche Park following action taken Tuesday by Nacogdoches County commissioners.
Supporters of Plunkett packed the county commissioners courtroom Tuesday afternoon for an executive session in which Plunkett’s status as a county employee would be discussed.
At the beginning of what would become a five-hour meeting, most of which was spent in closed session, several of those in attendance spoke of Plunkett’s strong moral character and called for his immediate reinstatement as Expo manager.
But after more than three hours behind closed doors, the court came back into open session to ask Plunkett and his attorney, Tim James, if they wanted the remaining discussion about Plunkett’s employment to be in open or closed session. They chose closed session. After another hour and a half, open session resumed.
