Longview,TX — A coalition of Christian congregations held joint prayer walks Tuesday across areas of Longview determined to be in high need.
The Longview Police Department aided the walk’s coordinators in developing the event by identifying areas in which to pray, said Assistant Chief Mike Bishop.
“We narrowed it down to nine areas, each geographically different,” Bishop said. “We looked for places with high calls of service.”
A call of service generally refers to any situation in which a response from a public servant is required, he said. The event, after being discussed for several months, gained traction due to recent violent crimes in the city, said Robert Evans, senior pastor at Bethel Temple of Longview.
