UPDATE: Witnesses tell Tyler investigators were told that two male adults had come over to the Wilks residence on the 500 block of Wells Street around 9:00 p.m. for reasons unknown at this time.
The suspect involved in the stabbing said something to Wilks’s 14 year-old step-son out in the roadway, and when Wilks heard the comment, he went outside the house and began fighting with the suspect because of the comment. During the scuffle, Wilks was stabbed and cut numerous times with a small knife.
The suspect, along with an identified friend, left before officers arrived. Hospital officials have listed Wilks in stable condition.
This case remains under investigation.
From Tyler Police: Tyler Police responded to a stabbing around 9 Monday Night.
Officers responding to the call located the victim, Eldon Wilks, at the intersection of Wells and Donnybrook. Wilks was being transported to the hospital in a private vehicle.
EMS was called to the scene and transported Wilks the remainder of the way to the hospital.
Wilks had multiple cut and stab wounds to his arms and upper body.
At this time, the circumstances surrounding the stabbing are not clear.
The Tyler Police Department crimes against persons detectives were called out and are investigating the incident.
Updated information will be provided as it develops.
The victim is Eldon Wilks, white male, age 39 of Tyler.
ORIGINAL STORY: Tyler Police responded to a reported stabbing late Monday evening in the 500 block of Wells in Tyler.
Police on scene told KETK crews a white male had been stabbed.
They also told KETK that the suspect, a white male in his 40's, is still at large.
The condition of the stabbing victim is unknown at this time. We will bring you more information as soon as it become available to us.
