Lufkin, TX — The Lufkin school board voted unanimously Thursday night to name the Lufkin High School football field in memory of the late Coach John Outlaw. Beginning this season, the Panthers will play their games on John Outlaw Memorial Field at Abe Martin Stadium.
“This was the recommendation of our Tri-Ethnic Committee, and I certainly support it,” said Lufkin ISD Superintendent Roy Knight. “I feel like it is a very appropriate way to honor our recent fallen hero, while maintaining respect for our past, our tradition and Coach Abe Martin.”
