TYLER — We have once again hit those 100 plus degree temperatures...and everyone is trying to stay as cool as possible.
The animals at the zoo are no exception.
Scotty Stainbeck with the Caldwell Zoo in Tyler says in addition to the pools of water, they are putting misters out for the animals..
And sometimes, the animals decide for themselves if they'd like to go into some nice cool A/C.
Also...popsicles.
That's right...the bears are getting frozen ice with fruit in them, and some tasty "blood" popsicles for the cats!
"The elephants have a really deep pool. We'll get in front of them and spray the water hose in front of them as well so they can get in there and play. Some of the bird exhibits out here, they take and put sprinklers out on some of them and the birds will get in them and play in those as well," Stainbeck said.
Stainbeck says they're doing everything they can to keep the animals cool and comfy...and he encourages folks to do the same for their pets...because they're counting on you.
